Rocktec supplied Thiess with two Filter Cake Belt Feeders. This was part of the Onesteel, Project Magnet at Whyalla, South Australia
Overview
The belt feeders are 2.1m wide and 15.5m long. They have a nominal feed rate of 140 tph with a maximum feed rate of 200 tph. The feeders are predominately mild steel with a stainless steel hopper chute.
The 2.1m wide belt sits on impact rollers to give impact resistance and load carrying capacity. Featuring ceramic lagged head drums. Belt tracking is provided by an automated pneumatic belt tracker.
These were built to withstand the harshest conditions and give maximum throughput with minimum maintenance. This project had a build time of less than four months.
