SteelServ's Metal Recovery Plant was designed to process the works debris. The plant features a Sandvik MGF Vibrating Feeder and a range of Rocktec proprietary screens including dust encapsulation. Smelter slag is a co-product from the iron making process at New Zealand Steel's Glenbrook Mill. The processed slag which is crushed and screened into designated sizes can be used for roading as an aggregate and for water filtering and drainage systems.
