Port Hedland Port Authority - Mobile Feed Hopper Train - Port Hedland, AUS

Rocktec designed and built a Mobile Feed Hopper Train for the UTAH Point Berth project for the Port Hedland Port Authority in Western Australia

Overview

  • 280m Travel
  • Each Mobile Hopper 2750 tph
  • D4 Salt Chain
  • 1700mm Wide Apron Feeder Pans
  • 1500mm Belt Conveyor

The mobile hoppers are rail mounted, coupled in trains of three and capable of traveling 280m. Each hopper receives ore from a WA900-3 (10m3 Bucket) and delivers it to a 1500mm belt conveyor via an apron feeder located directly under the hopper. Two trains of three mobile hoppers (six in total) with control/mcc room were required for the project.

Each feeder features D4 Salt chain with 1700mm wide pans. An installed power of 75kW gives the feeder a design capacity of 2750tph.

All design and fabrication work was carried out at Rocktec in Matamata. To beat a tight deadline, Rocktec chartered a ship from New Zealand to deliver the nearly 700 tonnes directly to Port Hedland as virtually complete assemblies, eliminating dismantling and reassembly time.
