Jason Tapper Marks 25 Years Strong at Rocktec

Jun 3, 2025 | News

This year marks a major milestone for one of Rocktec’s most respected team members—Jason Tapper, who is celebrating 25 years of service with the company.

Jason joined Rocktec in 2000, originally brought into the drawing office by then-General Manager and Engineer Angus Robson. At a recent celebration held at Rocktec HQ, Jason was joined by Angus—who returned to mark the occasion and reflect on the early days of the business and Jason’s career.

Over the past two and a half decades, Jason has played a key role in Rocktec’s evolution. Known for his technical expertise, reliability, and hands-on approach, he has contributed to countless materials handling projects across New Zealand and internationally. From design to delivery, Jason’s influence can be seen in the successful execution of crushing plants, conveyor systems, and turnkey solutions.

Jason was also part of the Rocktec team that collaborated with Angus Robson to build what would become the world’s largest trebuchet—a bold project that quickly captured the imagination of the entire town (Matamata). Interest spiked when car bodies were launched across paddocks, drawing crowds and national media attention. The achievement earned Rocktec a Guinness World Record, a feat that remains a highlight in company history. The project has recently attracted renewed interest, with a leading YouTube channel reaching out to explore a recreation of the record-breaking effort.

“Jason represents the best of Rocktec—quietly capable, deeply committed, and always dependable,” according to General Manager Gary Brown. “He’s been one of the foundations of our team for 25 years, and it’s a privilege to celebrate this milestone with him.”

His journey reflects the enduring values that have shaped Rocktec as a business—practical problem solving, engineering excellence, and a strong sense of team.

Jason’s contributions have left a lasting mark on Rocktec’s operations, and his work ethic continues to set the standard for those around him.

Congratulations, Jason, on 25 years of exceptional service.

Jason’s milestone is one of many at Rocktec—over 25% of the team has been with the business for more than 15 years. Special recognition also goes to Geoff Tappin, who recently marked an incredible 33 years of service. Rocktec’s strength lies in its people—and we’re proud to celebrate the loyalty and experience that drive our success.
