The Challenge: Consistent Iron Ore Feed Under Harsh Conditions

OneSteel’s Iron Baron project required two robust weigh feeders capable of delivering consistent, controlled material flow across harsh operating environments. The solution needed to withstand abrasive iron ore while maintaining precise throughput and minimising maintenance interruptions.

Rocktec’s Solution: Heavy-Duty Custom Belt Weigh Feeders

Rocktec engineered and built a complete weigh feeding solution with the following features:

  • 7.5m long, 2100mm wide belt weigh feeders designed for heavy material loads
  • Integrated weigh scale system for accurate material flow measurement and control
  • Installed 2.2kW drive motors ensuring reliable belt movement under varying loads
  • ESS Primary and Secondary Belt Scrapers fitted for effective belt cleaning
  • Return belt vee plough installed to prevent carryback and improve operational cleanliness

The design focused on rugged reliability, easy maintenance, and long-term performance in continuous mining operations.
